Skaidi is a village about 55 kilometres south of Hammerfest. The area is known for its many outdoors possibilities, from hiking and offroad mountainbiking to alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snowmobile riding. The Sami name “Skaidi” means “where the two rivers meet”. This community is at the junction between Hammerfest, Alta, Nordkapp, Måsøy and Porsanger. Here you find a gas station with a cafeteria and a grocery store.
Skaidi is the location of numerous events year-round, like concerts and the bike races “Skaidi Fatbike” and “Skaidi Xtreme”.
Skaidi and its surroundings are also among the most attractive cottage and outdoor areas of Finnmark. You will actually find more weekend cottages in Skaidi than locals’ homes. To get an impression of the area, have a look at this video.
